The Montclair Baseball and Softball Club's 8-and-under travel team won the United States Amateur Baseball League Northeast Division championship, defeating the FB Braves 11-1 July 28 at Kaveny Field in Montclair.

The 8U Bulldogs defeated travel teams from Park Ridge and Belleville in the playoffs to earn a spot in the championship game. Strong hitting, pitching and improved fielding helped the team succeed over the course of the season, head coach Morris Rockmaker said.

The team celebrated its final win with a victory lap around Kaveny Field with friends and supporters from the Bulldogs 9U and 10U teams.

Rockmaker dedicated the championship win to the memories of Terry Demming, son of the former council member Kathryn Weller-Demming, and Andy Giuliano, known by the community as "Coach Andy."

Most of the players plan to continue playing in the fall during the club's in-house league, which focuses on skill development.
