The Montclair Board of Education announced that it has found permanent hires for two administrative positions that were being filled on an interim basis.

During its Monday night meeting, the board announced that it had appointed a full-time business administrator and a full-time director of pupil services.

The names of the two hires were not immediately available; Board President Laura Hertzog said after the meeting that the appointments had been made only that day, and that the hires were being officially notified.

Steve DiGeronimo has been acting as interim business administrator. The board took a few minutes to thank him during the meeting, and he offered his gratitude for having been able to work with them.

The board is still searching for a permanent superintendent. Interim Superintendent Barbara Pinsak will be staying on through the end of the next school year as the board continues its superintendent search.

Part of the meeting included a presentation from Bill Adams and Judy Ferguson, the two consultants that the district has retained to assist with the search.

Other topics brought up during the meeting included the new health and sexuality curriculum; the subject of tracking in schools, and the potential effects on equity; and the district's hiring situation due to the budget shortfall.
