Montclair still does not have a new superintendent, and the Township Board of Education expects the district may not have one until January at the earliest.

During Wednesday night's meeting at the George Inness Annex, the school board gave the audience an update on the ongoing superintendent search. Board President Laura Hertzog said that the board still has not found a suitable candidate.

“It is June,” Hertzog said. “We are not going to have somebody by September.”

Interim Superintendent Barbara Pinsak had agreed to stay on through the next academic year, Hertzog said. She added that the district would be forming a search committee to help revive the search.

Hertzog said that it was the board’s hope that a suitable candidate would be found by January, and that person would start in July 2018.

Pinsak is the second interim superintendent that Montclair has had over the past three years. She succeeded prior interim superintendent Ronald Bolandi in March.

Besides a full superintendent, the board is still searching for a full director of pupil services and a business administrator.
