
Montclair Cub Scouts report 23 Christmas trees stolen
Representatives of Montclair Cub Scout Pack 12 reported 23 Christmas trees were stolen from their recent Church Street sale, police said.
They told police Dec. 7 that 23 trees were missing and not accounted as sold, police said. The trees, valued at between $75 and $95 each, were last seen Nov. 28.

THEFTS, ATTEMPTED THEFTS
Tuesday, Dec. 7 — A resident reported that his home surveillance system captured an individual entering his vehicle at 2:30 a.m. on Haddon Place. The vehicle was rummaged through, however nothing was reported missing at the time.
Thursday, Dec. 9 — A resident reported that a package that had been delivered to her New Street residence was stolen. Home surveillance video showed a male, wearing dark colored baseball cap, a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and light-colored jeans, exit a dark-colored vehicle. The man then took the package, returned to his car, and fled north on New Street.
Monday, Dec. 13 — A resident reported that he ordered an iPad mini and when it was delivered to his Hawthorne Place home, the box was empty. Upon inspecting the box, it appeared as though the seals on the box were cut.
RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLES
Tuesday, Dec. 7 — A 2021 Black Jeep Compass that had been stolen from a driveway on Grove Street Dec. 5 was recovered in Newark. The vehicle had been involved in a shooting in Newark and recovered unoccupied.
Tuesday, Dec. 7 — A 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan stolen from Macopin Avenue Nov. 22 was recovered unoccupied at Branch Court and Allen Lane in Newark.
Friday, Dec. 10 — A 2021 Ford Explorer stolen from a Mount Vernon Road residence was recovered on Elizabeth Avenue in Newark.
BURGLARY ATTEMPT
Monday, Dec. 13 — A resident reported that while at work, he was alerted by his juvenile son that someone was repeatedly ringing the doorbell of their Mission Street home and then began kicking the door. No one made entry successfully. The door frame sustained damage by the deadbolt lock.
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
Thursday, Dec. 9 — Officers responded to the Exxon Gas Station on Bloomfield Avenue on a report of an individual threatening a worker with a knife. Patrol officers arrived and located a 49-year-old man from Montclair following the employee, who was retreating. Officers located an orange handled razor blade in the man’s possession. He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and aggravated assault.
DWI
Thursday, Dec. 9 — A 57-year-old woman from Carlsbad, California was charged with driving while intoxicated after striking a marked patrol car at the intersection of North Fullerton Avenue and Walnut Street.
