Montclair High School cheerleaders win a title in Virginia competition
The Montclair High School cheerleading team traveled to Virginia last weekend and came home with a ONE Cheer and Dance Northeast title.
The Mounties won the high school varsity intermediate division title over other teams from the Northeast at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in a two-day competition, April 2 and 3.
“This was so amazing for us,” Montclair head coach JaNiece Jenkins said. “We were able to make this trip happen and then to perform on that stage for a two-day competition. It was great.”
Jenkins said that it was a first for the squad to go outside the area to compete, and she wants to go to more competitions in the future.
The Montclair cheer squad has 19 members: Jahiaida Reyes, Skye Scott, Ava Walton, Shanelle Palmer, K’la Bennett, Danasia Adams, Nayanah Thompson, Amaya Paul, Mercedes Armstrong, Savannah Roberts, Nikele Stoute, Cassidy Rose, Jocelyn Batista, Jaelyn Auletta, Darriel Whiting, Sage Eugene, Julia Jabateh, Payton Brown and Amani Doukali.
