The Montclair football team is expected to travel and take on Ridgewood on Friday night, Oct. 28 in the first round of the North 2 Group 5 state tournament.

It was only a couple weeks ago that the Mounties stunned the Maroons, 17-10, on Oct. 14 on the road. Montclair is the seventh seed and Ridgewood in the second seed.

The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association released seedings on Sunday, Oct. 23 and will not be official until Oct. 24.

The Mounties finished off the regular season with a 21-7 victory over Columbia on Saturday, Homecoming Day at Woodman Field. Montclair junior quarterback Drew Pfeifer ran for a touchdown and threw for a touchdown in the win over the Cougars.

With the win over Columbia it was the first time this season that the Mounties won back-to-back games as they finished the regular season with a 4-4 record.

Against Ridgewood, Montclair came from behind when they were down 14-3 at halftime. The Mounties received a pair of touchdowns from senior Semaj Adams in the second half to defeat Ridgewood.

For Montclair they are hoping to get rid of the bad taste from last season's state players where the Mounties lost 20-14 at Passaic Tech in triple overtime.
