
Culture in brief: Big Mamou celebrates Mardi Gras
Local Cajun-Country band Big Mamou is playing a few dates to celebrate Mardi Gras.
On Tuesday, March 5, Big Mamou will play a Mardi Gras celebration at The Montclair Social Club, 499 Bloomfield Ave. The Montclair Social Club’s menu includes Louisiana Mardi Gras favorites, including po boys and jambalaya.
On Friday, March 8, Big Mamou will open for NRBQ at Outpost in the Burbs, at First Congregational Church, 40 South Fullerton Ave. Big Mamou’s CD, “Deux,” was mastered by local Greg Calbi, who just won a Grammy Award for mastering the 2019 album of the year for Kacey Musgrave. Big Mamou consists of Fred Parcells, Michael Levine, John Sherman, Julianne Fenhagen, and Jim Fenhagen. For more information about the band, visit bigmamouband.com.
