BURGLARY/ THEFT
Tuesday, Jan. 22 — Attempted theft of a vehicle at Firestone on Bloomfield Avenue. Two suspects entered a Mini Cooper, which had been left running in the parking lot. The suspects were unable to get the vehicle in gear and fled the area on foot. The keys were stolen from the vehicle. One suspect is described as an African American male, thin, 16-25 years old, wearing tight jeans, black shoes with white soles, and a gray or tan hooded jacket with the hood up. The other is described as an African American male, thin, 16-25 years old, wearing jeans with white fade marks on the back thighs, dark shoes, dark jacket and black hair.
Wednesday, Jan. 23 — Theft of two cellphone charges from an unlocked vehicle on Midland Avenue.
Wednesday, Jan. 23 — Burglary to Golden Chinese Gourmet 133 Grove St. #2. Access was gained by kicking in the glass front door. The cash register was taken.
Wednesday, Jan. 23 — Theft of a cellphone charging wire from an unlocked vehicle on Montclair Avenue.
Wednesday, Jan. 23 — Theft of a 2018 blue Toyota Camry from the parking lot of a residence on Bloomfield Avenue. The keys had been left in this vehicle.
Thursday, Jan. 24 — Attempted burglary to a garage on Harrison Avenue. A door was damaged, but entry was not gained to the structure.
Thursday, Jan. 24 — Theft of a personal laptop at the Montclair Public Library, 50 S. Fullerton Ave. It had been left unattended.
Friday, Jan. 25 — Burglary to a Lorraine Avenue residence. A rear window was smashed to gain entry. A bedroom was rummaged through, but it is unknown if anything was taken.
Friday, Jan. 25 — Burglary to an occupied residence on Chester Road. The homeowners heard a noise from the rear of the home and noticed two purses missing from a kitchen chair. Access was gained through an unlocked rear door.
Saturday, Jan. 26 — Burglary to an occupied residence on Wildwood Avenue. The homeowner heard a noise from the rear of the home. The homeowner then noticed a pocketbook missing from the dining room. Access was gained through an unlocked rear door.
Saturday, Jan. 26 — Attempted burglary to an apartment on Bloomfield Avenue. The front entrance door was tampered with, but entry was not gained.
Saturday, Jan. 26 — Attempted burglary to two apartments. on South Fullerton Avenue The front doors were damaged, but entry was not gained to either home.
Sunday, Jan. 27 — Jewelry was taken from an apartment on Union Street. There was no sign of forced entry.
Sunday, Jan. 27 — Cash was taken from an unlocked vehicle on Grove Street.
Monday, Jan. 28 — Theft of a 2006 black Ford pickup truck from Elmwood Avenue in front of a residence.
Tuesday, Jan. 28 — Power tools were taken from a construction trailer on Glenridge Avenue.
ARREST
Thursday, Jan. 24 — A 46-year-old man from Montclair, was arrested on Bloomfield Avenue for open warrants out of Montclair totaling $900.
Monday, Jan. 28 —A 26-year-old woman from Irvington was arrested and charged with shoplifting for stealing food items from CVS, 514 Bloomfield Ave. She was charged with possession of CDS and hindering for providing a false name to law enforcement.
MISCELLANEOUS
Friday, Jan. 25 — A vehicle traveling on Willowdale Avenue had its side window smashed. It is unknown what was utilized to break the window.
