Thursday, Jan. 30 – A 16-year-old East Orange resident was charged with receiving stolen property on Bloomfield Avenue after he was found to be in possession of a bicycle reported stolen earlier in the month.

Saturday, Feb. 1 – A 61-year-old Harrison resident was charged with harassment by communication, harassment by spitting and bias intimidation after police responded to the area on a report of a male yelling racial slurs and spitting on the victim, a 47-year-old female African American resident of Newark.

Sunday, Feb. 2 – A 45-year-old Hackensack resident was charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Lloyd Road.

Monday, Feb. 3 – A 41-year-old Springfield resident was charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Elm Street. 

Assault

Wednesday, Jan. 29 – A 50-year-old California resident reported that she was walking on Orange Road when she was approached by a man who wanted to talk to her. When she refused, the male pushed her to the ground, causing an abrasion to the victim’s knee. The man, described as a black male, between 5’10”-5’11” tall, 220 and 230 pounds, with short, black hair, and last seen wearing a black jacket and black sweatpants, was last seen running on Warren Place. Suspicious Incident

Wednesday, Jan. 29 – A witness states that he was in a house under construction on Alexander Avenue when he observed a male peering into a window on the front porch. When the witness made eye contact with the male, the male ran and entered a white van that was parked nearby. The witness chased the male, but the van fled west on Alexander Avenue. Anyone with further information is asked to contact Detective Tyler Manley at 973-509-4722.

Friday, Jan. 31 – A vehicle owner reported that her vehicle had been rummaged through on Tremont Place, with nothing of value reported being stolen from the vehicle.

Friday, Jan. 31 – A 33-year-old Jersey City resident reports that she was walking on Bloomfield Avenue when a male said to her, “Go back to China,” made a slur regarding her heritage, and spat in her direction. The suspect is described as an older white male, balding with some gray hair, and last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt with a gray hood.

Burglary

Sunday, Feb. 2 – A Claremont Avenue resident reported that the door to a vacated apartment had been kicked in. Nothing was reported missing at the time of the report.

Thefts

Wednesday, Jan. 29 – A vehicle owner reported that a backpack and textbook was stolen from his vehicle parked on Lexington Avenue.

Vandalism

Wednesday, Jan. 29 – A vehicle owner reported that his vehicle was “keyed” and two of its tires were punctured on Orange Road.

Thursday, Jan. 30 – A vehicle owner reported that a window to her vehicle had been shattered on North Willow Avenue, with a brick found on the floor under the driver’s seat.

Thursday, Jan. 30 – A vehicle owner reported that her vehicle’s windshield had been cracked by an unidentified object on Valley Road.

Monday, Feb. 3 – A vehicle owner reported that an unidentified person had apparently placed oatmeal and sugar in and around her vehicle’s gas tank on Forest Street.
