Police in Montclair are searching for a man wanted on charges of stabbing a man on Miller Street Monday night.

Authorities say that Donald “Ibn” Silvera, 40, is wanted for stabbing a 48-year-old man on Miller Street, in a July 9 incident that police say began with an argument over a stolen bicycle.

According to a release from the MPD, police were called to Miller Street at 10:49 p.m. Monday. The 48-year-old had been taken to the hospital by relatives after suffering multiple stab wounds to his abdomen. Silvera had fled the scene by the time police arrived.

A 16-year-old male at the scene was found to have a small laceration on his arm, and he was treated at the scene. The adult stabbing victim was reported to be in stable condition as of Wednesday.

Police say that the incident stemmed from a bicycle that had been allegedly stolen from the 16-year-old earlier that day.

Silvera will be charged with three counts of aggravated assault, weapons offenses and child endangerment.

Silvera is described as being 5-foot, 6-inches in height and weighing 160 pounds.

According to Essex County Correctional Facility reports, Silvera has at least three prior arrests, including CDS-related charges in 2004 and charges of resisting arrest in 2012. His most recent arrest, on motor vehicle registration charges, was in February.

Anyone with information on Silvera’s whereabouts is urged to call the Montclair Police Department immediately at 973-744-1234.
