
Obituary: Andrew Eugene Farrar
Andrew Eugene Farrar, 85, of Fluvanna, Va., formerly of Montclair, died on Wednesday, June 26, 2019.
Mr. Farrar was born on Aug. 13, 1933, in Fluvanna County, Va. At an early age, he became a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Kent Store, Va., where he attended the annual revivals up until his health failed. He attended the public schools of Fluvanna County before moving to New Jersey and marrying his late first wife, Hossaine Farrar. From this union, they had two sons, Zachary and Bryan Farrar.
Mr. Farrar became a member of St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Montclair. While in New Jersey, he married Almeida “Janet” Moody. He retired from Bell Laboratories after 38 years of employment and received an award for perfect attendance throughout his employment.
He was a lover of music and taught himself to play the guitar. He enjoyed playing baseball, luxury cars and spending quality time with his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Bessie Farrar; his son Zachery Farrar; his brothers James, Clarence, and Carlton Farrar; and his sister, Alice Waddy.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Farrar; his son Bryan Farrar; his three sisters, Lucille Bratcher, Mattie Price (Leroy Price), and Veronica Keys; his sister-in-laws, Loraine Farrar, Ellie Sterling, and Mary Jones; his grandchildren Gena Farrar-White (Shalah), Patrick Farrar, Jessika Booker (Dominique), and Jaden Farrar; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 5, at Galilee Baptist Church, 3598 Three Notch Road, Kent Store, Va. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. D.D. Watson of Louisa, Va., is handling the arrangements.
