Anton F. Pecha Jr., 81, died on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Morristown Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

A Funeral Mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona on Friday, Dec. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Born in New York City and raised in Centerport, Long Island, Mr. Pecha moved to Montclair where he and his wife of 56 years, Anne, raised their family before retiring 17 years ago to North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

He had a bachelors of arts degree in accounting from St. John's University and worked for Champion International in Paramus for 19 years as a corporate credit manager.

He served honorably in the 3rd Infantry Division, 10th Artillery of the US Army from 1957 to 1959.

Mr. Pecha was a volunteer fireman in the Centerport and Commack fire departments on Long Island. He achieved the rank of captain while with the Commack FD.

Mr. Pecha was the husband of Anne (nee Lankenau) Pecha, the father of Anton F. Pecha III and his wife, Patricia, Kathleen Anne Brozyna and her husband, Thomas and Richard Pecha and his wife, Laurie and the grandfather of Anton IV, Alexandra, Christina, Jacquelyn and Katherine. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard J. Pecha.
