Obituary: Arnaldo Apolito, M.D.

Arnaldo Apolito, M.D., 91, of Montclair, died on July 17, 2019.

Born in Ostigliano, Prov. di Salerno, Italy to the late Giuseppe and Antonia Apolito, Arnaldo came to the U.S. at the age of 25, and lived in Jersey City, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Passaic before settling in Montclair.

Dr. Apolito was a board-certified psychiatrist, board-certified forensic psychiatrist, Karen Horney Analyst, and professor of psychiatry at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He also had a private practice in Montclair.

He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Armando, Ettore and Ugo Apolito, and Livia Mottola.

Dr. Apolito is survived by his wife of over 36 years Norma (nee: Talbo); sons Marcello Apolito, Alessandro A. Apolito (Lauren) and Fabio Apolito (Mariah); grandchildren Ruby, Vincenzo, Valentino and Massimo; siblings Olga Lancellotti and Antonio Apolito (Antonietta); and many nieces, nephews and their children.

Visitation was held on Monday, July 22 at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home in Cedar Grove. The Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, July 23 at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Cedar Grove, with private cremation at Rosedale Crematory in Montclair.
