Bernard “Bernie” Cutner died on March 1, 2018.

Visitation was held March 14 at Woody ‘’Home for Services’’ in Orange, followed by a memorial service at the same location.

Mr. Cutner was born March 9, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York. He was graduated from the New York School District and later moved to Newark. Mr. Cutner met Maxie Anderson and they wed on March 9, 1969.

Mr. Cutner  was a lead singer and guitarist for his group called the Adventurers. His stage name was “Captain Hook” and he loved to perform at the drop of a dime. As the years went on Mr. Cutner  became a salesman for Razac Hair Care, he was a bus driver for NJ Transit and employed at Kings Supermarket in Montclair, in the seafood department for 22 years.

He also loved cooking and spending quality time with his family. He was a Green Bay Packers fanatic and loved football season.

He survived his battle with Prostate Cancer and was cancer free as of February 27, 2018.

Mr. Cutner  is survived by his two brothers Paul Cutner and Joe Abernathy, his daughter Kecia Lorraine Cutner-Little and his grandchildren Kareem Mersier, Khajayah Little and Ky-Asia Little. His nephew, Tyron Cutner, his nieces Erica and Evonda Cutner and his great nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents Maynard and Cora Cutner, his grandmother Annie Abernathy-Bell. His siblings Rhonda Cutner, Lionel Cutner, Myron Cutner, Eulita Cutner and nephew Qasim Mitchell.
