Carolyn Virginia Hardy, of Montclair, died on March 17. She was 78.

Carolyn was born on June 3, 1941, in Hawkinsville, Ga., to the late Lucius and Cora Hall.

She retired from Delta Dental of New Jersey after 25 years of service. She was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and was known for loving to shop, dining out and spending time with her family and friends.

Carolyn is survived by her sister, Barbara Jean Brooks, of Montclair; nieces Constance Brooks and Linda Brooks, of Montclair, Teresa Brooks Mitchell and husband Raymond of Brockton, Mass.; great-nieces Nastassia Brooks Haskins and husband Marc of Mount Laurel, and Tanisha Brooks of Irvington; great-great nephews Aiden Haskins and Aaron Haskins of Mount Laurel; cousins Kenneth Thompson and wife Vinnette of New Hempstead, N.Y., Carlton Thompson of New York, and a host of other relatives, friends and neighbors.

She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Hardy; her parents, Lucius and Cora Hall; her uncle and aunt, George and Martha Thompson, and nephew Erwin Brooks.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, at 1 p.m, at Caggiano Memorial Home for Funerals, 62 Grove St., Montclair,
