Obituary: Clayton Vernon Bauer Jr.

Clayton Vernon Bauer Jr., 60, of Montclair, died on May 23, 2019 after a courageous battle with Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Mr. Bauer was born in Orange and was raised in Verona. He was a graduate of Verona High School.

He worked at St. Barnabas for the past 26 years and has lived in Montclair since 2001. His passion was skiing double diamond mountains, which he did so well that it looked easy. Mr. Bauer and Gabriella were married on the beach in Negril, Jamaica on July 21, 1992. They had a son Michael Clayton Bauer on Aug. 26, 1995. He was a very involved parishioner and usher at St James Church in Montclair.

Mr. Bauer is survived by his wife Gabriella, a son Michael and his three siblings, Mallory, Beth and Merryl.

A memorial service for Clayton Vernon Bauer Jr. will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4 at St. James Episcopal Church, 581 Valley Road, Montclair.
