Edward R. Mosley

Edward R. Mosley of Montclair, a teacher and administrator for more than 40 years at Passaic County Community College and a crisis counselor for a hospital emergency department, died peacefully on March 14, 2023.  He was 71.

Born in Paterson to Sylvester and Geraldine Mosley, he and his brothers were raised in that city, where he graduated from Eastside High School. 

Mr. Mosley earned a B.A. from William Paterson University, an M.A. from Seton Hall University and an M.S. from Fordham University. 

He was licensed as a certified social worker, rehabilitation and professional counselor.

Mr. Mosley had a passion for teaching and helping others. He worked for 43 years at Passaic County Community College, serving as an administrator, department chair, faculty association leader and, most importantly to him, teacher. 

Upon his retirement in December 2021, he was honored by the college as professor emeritus. Mr. Mosley also worked part time at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center for more than 30 years as a crisis counselor in the emergency department, and for 30-some years he taught per diem online at Thomas Edison State University.

Mr. Mosley is survived by his daughter, Jennifer S.M. Goodwin, and her children, Samiyah, Lailah, Mikaylah and Grayson; his partner, Patricia Warren; his brother, Tyrone Mosley, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Sylvester and Geraldine Mosley, and by three brothers, Sylvester Jr., David Gaston and John Michael Mosley.

Visitation is Friday, March 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Caggiano Memorial Home for Funerals, 62 Grove St.  A funeral service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 153 Grove St. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his honor to the charity of your choice, or to the William Paterson University or Passaic County Community College scholarship funds.
