Obituary: Elaine Diane Kislowski Gallagher
Elaine Diane (Kislowski) Gallagher, a lifelong resident of Montclair and a mathematics teacher in Wayne for more than three decades, died on June 17, 2022. She was 75.
Mrs. Gallagher was born in 1946 on McCosh Road in Montclair to Frieda and Eddie Kislowski and still lived there 75 years later. She grew up with wonderful parents and her fun and loving sister, Linda. She shared wonderful memories with all of them.
She went to Immaculate Conception High School, graduating in 1964 and attaining high honors in all courses. She then attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she received a B.A. in education and a master’s in arts of teaching. She also held a supervisory certificate from Fairleigh Dickinson.
Mrs. Gallagher was a very diversified woman. She was an expert in the mathematical field and had a teaching position at Wayne Valley High School for 34 years. Her expertise ranged from simple algebra to advanced trigonometry and calculus.
She loved being with students and for years was the ski adviser for the Wayne Valley Ski Club, traveling to places such as Vail, Colorado, Switzerland and Italy.
Mrs. Gallagher met the love of her life, Rick Gallagher, at Immaculate and was married years later at Immaculate Conception Church. They were married for 52 years.
The couple loved to travel, visiting places such as Vail, Hawaii and Florida; they traveled to 48 states. She loved basket-weaving and bead-making, loved making specialty birthday cards and enjoyed everything to do with Harry Potter.
Mrs. Gallagher will be lovingly remembered in all the Gallagher and Kislowski hearts.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick Gallagher, and sister, Linda Moschovich.
A funeral Mass was said for her on June 23 at St. Cassian’s R.C. Church.
