Felicity Ann Fitzgibbon, a longtime resident of Montclair, died on Oct. 3, 2021, with her husband at her side. She was 85.

Mrs. Fitzgibbon was born in 1936 in Nutley to Thomas and Clothilde (Lloyd) Grosse. She had a brother, Lloyd Grosse. She attended Bloomfield High School and Upsala College. 

She was employed by Executive Health Examiners and later Goldman Sachs.

Mrs. Fitzgibbon met the love of her life, Brian, on Valentine’s Day 1969 in New York City, at the Williams Club. They began their life together in Brooklyn Heights, later settling in Montclair, where they raised their family. They were married one day short of 52 years. 

Her family was everything to her. She became a full-time mom and loved every minute of it. She also loved to decorate and owned an antiques store in Montclair during the 1980s.

Mrs. Fitzgibbon is survived by her husband, Brian Xavier Fitzgibbon; her children, Melissa Newman and Sean Fitzgibbon, as well as their spouses, Jeff Newman and Merita Fitzgibbon, and five grandchildren, Ariana, Ryan, Conor, Gavin and Tanner. 

Visitation is at the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park St., on Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 7, at 10:30 a.m., with burial to follow.
