Obituary: Gregory Charles Smith

Gregory Charles Smith, 77, of Montclair died on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019.

Born in Kearny, the son of the late Charles Smith and Frances Rainey Brown, he lived in Montclair for over 60 years.

Mr. Smith graduated from Tusculum College and served in the army in Vietnam. He has been president of Smith Carriers since 1988.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pamela Thorn Smith, brother-in-law Rodger Thorn and his wife Augusta, Carmine and Deborah Mango and his nephews Rodger Thorn Jr., William Thorn, Ronald Thorn and Nicholas Mango.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3 at the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park St., Montclair. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the same location. Cremation will be private.
