Obituary: Gregory Hairabedian

Gregory Hairabedian, 79, of Montclair, formerly of West Allenhurst, Newark and Union City, died on Tuesday, July 30, 2019.

Mr. Hairabedian was a psychotherapist at the Veterans Hospital in East Orange. He was a three letter, Hall of Fame athlete at Emerson High School in Union City. He restored his cherished Montclair home, took pride in the details and enjoyed his garden and planted many trees and flowers. Greg loved his family compound in Hunter, N.Y., which was full of nature and animals.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen McEvoy, his daughter Kristin and her fiancé Nick Wilson; by his siblings, Theresa Cicchelli (Jerry), Sonia Hairabedian, George Hairabedian; his sister-in-law Patricia Alexander (Harvey); brother-in-law Kevin McEvoy; his niece Laura Cicchelli; and his nephews John Cicchelli (Andrea) and Brian Alexander (Mahua). He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Esther, his sister Gloria Azarian and his nephew Edward Alexander.

The family will host a memorial tribute and receive relatives and friends from
10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St., Montclair.
