Helen Ziegler (née Markman) passed away peacefully in Montclair on July 29, 2020.

Helen was born on Sept. 16, 1918, and grew up in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y., where, in 1944, she met and married the love of her life, the late Sydney Ziegler. She later resided in White Plains, N.Y., until she moved to live with her daughter and family in Montclair in 2011.

Helen was employed by Neiman Marcus for many years, but her most cherished job was being a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved poetry, songs, history and crossword puzzles and was an avid fan of Jeopardy and public television. She said she never felt old and always expressed an interest in the future.

Helen is survived by her loving daughter Shari, son-in-law Alan Fox and grandchildren Stephanie and Jonathan of Montclair.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Sydney (1997) and daughter Phyllis (1998).

Contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to the PBS Foundation, pbs.org.
