Obituary: Helene A. Sullivan

Helene A. (Willenborg) Sullivan, of Upper Montclair, died peacefully on Sunday, May 23, 2021. She was 92.

Mrs. Sullivan was born in Hoboken, lived there many years and moved to Upper Montclair in 1961 with her husband, John, where they raised their family. She graduated from Caldwell College in 1950, earning a B.S. in business administration. 

She met her husband in New York City, where she worked from 1950-1952, and they were married in 1953. She returned to work at Caldwell College in the Alumnae Office from 1970 to 1977, and after that did volunteer work running different groups, including a senior citizen group, and organizing fundraising events. 

Mrs. Sullivan was a parishioner at St. Cassian Church in Upper Montclair. She enjoyed her volunteer work and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by four children, Barbara Senior and husband Bill, of Clifton, Patricia M. Sullivan, of Upper Montclair, Richard and wife Debbie, of Verona, and John and wife Cyndie, of St. Augustine, Florida. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Tim and Patty Senior, Remy and Julianne Sullivan, and Sean and Connor Sullivan.

She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, John. 

Visitation is Wednesday, May 26, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park St. The Funeral Mass is at St. Cassian Church, 187 Bellevue Ave., Upper Montclair, on Thursday, May 27, at 10 a.m. Interment is immediately following, at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
