
Obituary: Henry Patrick ‘Hank’ Rogers Jr.
Henry Patrick “Hank” Rogers Jr. of Montclair, who had careers in teaching and medical publications sales, died on Monday, Aug. 1, 2022. He was 80.
Mr. Rogers attended St. Benedict’s Prep and was a graduate of Morehead State University in Kentucky with degrees in English and history. He would go on to receive master’s degrees in linguistics from Morehead State University and Irish literature from The National University of Ireland.
He started and ended his career in teaching, receiving multiple teaching awards, and in between had successful sales leadership roles in the medical publications industry.
Mr. Rogers was an avid reader, writer, historian and storyteller. Whether in the classroom, on the golf course, or with family and friends, he lit up the room with his voice, charisma, humor and knowledge. He will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Higgins) Rogers; son, Hank III (Miho) and granddaughter, Sophia Ann, of Livingston; daughter Kate (Rogers) Vignoe (John) and grandson Luke Henry of Peapack; sister, Susan Mckay, of Stuart, Florida; brother, Michael Rogers (Jan) of Bloomsbury; sister-in-law, Carol Rogers of Sugar Loaf, New York, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends.
Mr. Rogers was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Anna (Ward) Rogers; brother, Thomas, and son, Kevin.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 32 North Fullerton Ave., on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Rogers’ memory may be made to St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Church of the Immaculate Conception.
