James “Jimmy” Bridges Jr. of East Orange, a former longtime resident of Montclair, died on Feb. 2, 2022. He was 71.

Mr. Bridges was born to the late James and Irene Bridges in 1951 and attended the Montclair public schools. 

He was a U.S. Army veteran. 

Mr. Bridges loved his family and enjoyed living an eventful life. 

He is survived by his son, James Bridges 3rd of Nashville, North Carolina; two brothers, Melvin Mason of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Vincent Bridges of Emporia, Virginia; two sisters, Vanessa Batts (Dwight Sr.) of Emporia and Rita Spence of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; a grandson, Isaiah Downing of Fayetteville, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jason Bridges, Earl Bridges and James Brooks.

A celebration of life memorial will be announced at a later date.
