Janet Brown of Belleville, formerly of Montclair, died on May 30, 2022. She was 76.

Mrs. Brown was born in 1946 to James and Dorlena Stone. She attended the Montclair school system and later met James Brown, and they married in 1966.

She suffered a stroke in 2017 and never fully recovered. 

Mrs. Brown was a most kind-hearted person; she would give you the shirt off her back if she had to, and was loved by many because of her unselfish ways. She was the kind of person who left lasting memories of good times.

She is survived by seven children, James Brown Jr., Tammy Sanders (Davis), Christina Rodriguez, Holly Brown, Charles Brown, Cheryl Edobi and Sharonda Atwell; 21 grandchildren, Kayah, James 3rd, Ashaune, Tayshaun, Jania, William, Julisa, Deon, Dashawn, George, Brandon, Sylvia, Ruben, Destiny, Isaiah, Lisa, Jordan, Ibn, Aniyah, Asia and Felicia; five siblings, Rosalyn Harris, Dorlena Stone, Teresa Stone, Valeria Stone and Brent Stone; a sister-in-law, Selena Stone; great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Brown was predeceased by her parents, James and Dorlena Stone; brothers, James and Robert Stone; a daughter, Sheron Atwell; grandsons, Marcel Brown and Tyrese Rodriguez, and granddaughters, Fantasia Rodriguez and Cutie Tucker.

Services were held June 6 at Martin’s Home for Service, with interment at Rosedale Cemetery.
