Joseph A. Jetter, of Montclair, died on June 27, 2021. He was 67.

Mr. Jetter had an eclectic taste in many things.  He loved science fiction.  He knew “The Lord of the Rings,” including “The Silmarillion,” so well that he could have been a consultant for the movie. He also enjoyed reading Ray Bradbury, Octavia Butler and many other authors.

He liked watching “Dr. Who,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and Korean dramas, among other things.  He preferred to record his favorite shows and then watch them so that he could pause frequently for discussion.

Mr. Jetter loved playing tennis, chess, HayDay and Animal Crossing.  He also loved his N-scale model train village that he built from scratch and named JettRail.

He liked a wide variety of music, including jazz, Cat Stevens, the Beatles and many others.  He liked The Moody Blues so much that he named his first child after its lead singer and guitarist, Justin Hayward.

Mr. Jetter was passionate about eating ice cream (especially coffee-flavored), traveling with his wife and children and taking care of his wife, Vanessa. He was a hard worker who overcame many challenges.

He was loved very much by his family and friends.

Mr. Jetter is survived by his wife of 46 years, Vanessa; his three children, Justin, Nia and Melanie Jetter; sisters Maria Dawson and Patrice Jetter; brother-in-law, Percival Dawson, who had a tremendous influence on his life, and several nieces and nephews.
