Lillian Zarrillo (nee Niosi),  a longtime Montclair resident, died on March 31, 2022. She was 96.

Family came first for Mrs. Zarrillo, and she loved having her family over for gravy.  She was also “Aunt Lil” or “Grandma Lily” to many others.  

She worked for the Army’s Signal Corps during World War II and then with her brothers at Valley Plating in Upper Montclair until becoming a loving mother.

Mrs. Zarrillo is survived by her children, Thomas Zarrillo (Debra), MaryAnn Symons (Edward), Nancy Mulzet (Glenn), Susan Umbach (John) and Lisa Tyrrell; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); her sister-in-law, Colleen Zarrillo, and many nieces and nephews.  

She was predeceased by her husband, Canio Daniel Zarrillo; her great-grandson, Canio; her parents, Nicoli and Isabella Niosi, and by 10 siblings.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Montclair, with inurnment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a foundation of your choice.
