Madelyn Cummings FitzGerald, 96, formerly of Montclair, died on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at her family’s home in Simsbury, Conn.

She was born in Montclair, on June 24, 1923 to Martin and Delia Cummings.

Mrs. FitzGerald graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1940. She was a regular New York City commuter up until her retirement from Irving Trust where she worked as an executive assistant. Mrs. FitzGerald and her husband, Raymon enjoyed spending time and entertaining guests at their summer home in Point Pleasant.

Mrs. FitzGerald was a eucharistic minister and a regular volunteer at Saint Cassian Roman Catholic Church in Montclair. She enjoyed meeting her “coffee klatch” friends after weekday morning mass.

Mrs. FitzGerald was predeceased by her husband Raymon FitzGerald, her brother Joseph Cummings and godson Mark Cummings.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Susanne Cummings and nephews Paul, Neil, Tony Cummings and Paul Gawkowski and her cousins Noreen and her husband James Flohr, Terry and her husband Ernie Leddy, and Patrick McCormack.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Saint Cassian Roman Catholic Church, 187 Bellevue Ave. Rites of Committal will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 712 Grove St., Montclair.
