Madis Gilstrap Norvell, 93, of Douglasville, GA, formerly of Montclair and East Orange, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018 after a long illness.

Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 19, from 10 to 11 a.m., at St. Peter Claver Church, 56 Elmwood Ave., Montclair. A Mass will follow immediately after.

Mrs. Gilstrap Norvell worked as a proof reader for Burrell Newspaper Clippings in Livingston, office manager for Dr. Kappukalar Ziyaaudhin, and also worked as a computer analyst for Sandoz Pharmaceutical Company, where she worked for many years before retiring from there.

She was a devoted Catholic and active member where she served as CCD teacher for several years at St. Peter Claver Church. She also served as a Eucharist Minister at Holy Spirit Church in Orange, Our Lady Help of Christians in East Orange and St. Peter Claver Church before moving to Douglasville, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law.

She is predeceased by her first husband Samuel Gilstrap, her second husband Williams Norvell Sr. and her son David X. Gilstrap.

Mrs. Gilstrap Norvell is survived by her three daughters, Brenda Mosby (Curtis), Linda Dully (Claude) and Karen Woodfaulk; five grandchildren; DeWayne and Derek Strong, Courtney Woodfaulk and Danielle Crystal Dully; two great-grandchildren, Devasha Rascon and Jennah Strong; her very dear friend, Mary Cato; and a host of other relatives and friends.
