Michael Antonelli, of Montclair, died on Feb. 15, 2022, after a battle with leukemia. He was 83.

Mr. Antonelli was born in 1938 in Medford, Massachusetts, the youngest of five brothers (Paul, Stephen, Frank and Donald).

The first of his family to attend college, he graduated from Salem State University and later from the masters program at Syracuse University.

Upon graduation, Mr. Antonelli taught in the social studies department at Medford High School. He later transitioned to the financial services industry, where he thrived in sales roles.

He and his wife, Noreen, started their own company, AIM Systems, out of their home, self-financing it and growing it into a major insurance agency, with over 60 employees.

For those who knew him, he was the eternal optimist and dreamer and a firm believer that attitude is everything. The countless success stories of his former students, employees and family show the tremendous impact of Mr. Antonelli’s affirming nature, which inspired all those around them to believe they could achieve their very best.

He was generous on many levels — with his spirit, his time and all that he had. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Mr. Antonelli is survived by his wife, Noreen; his sons, David (Marisa) and Jamie (Andrea), and his three grandchildren, Daniel, Michael and Joseph.

A funeral Mass was set for Monday, Feb. 21, at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Cedar Grove.  Cremation was private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Arrangements were by Caggiano Memorial Home for Funerals.
