Richard Jay Marks, 65, of Point Pleasant Beach, died in his own home on Oct. 26, 2018.

Mr. Marks was born Oct. 15, 1954, in New York City and was raised in Montclair. He graduated from Montclair High School in 1972, where he was a noted student and athlete and had made a name for himself as a much-admired hockey player. Since meeting his partner, Patricia, he was a stay-at-home father to his son, Robert.

He was a lover of music, a devotee of Bob Dylan and the Beatles, and could often be seen playing idly on his guitar. He was known for his sense of humor, outgoing personality, friendliness and warmth.

Mr. Marks is survived by his long-time partner Patricia, his son Griffin, his brothers Jon, Robert, and Howard, and his sisters Suzanne and Madeline, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and a memorial will be held privately among close friends and family.
