Hillside School dad and local rock musician Jason Didner will hold an online fundraiser concert Nov. 13 to raise funds for Tropical Storm Ida recovery at Hillside.

Flooding from Ida especially damaged the school’s aesthetics classrooms and the specialized equipment and supplies they hold, according to a press release for the concert.

This included mats in the gymnastics room, and Didner, whose fifth grade daughter is a gymnast, wanted to help out.

“I really want to do something about this situation, so I’m putting my ability to entertain to good use,” Didner said in the press release.

The concert will stream at 8 p.m. on the online performance platform Live Streamer Cafe. To attend the show, go to the website about 10 minutes before showtime and create an account based on an email address. Then log in and click Didner's icon on the home page of the site to enter his concert.

In this show, Didner will feature original songs including “You Can’t Get There from Here in Jersey” and “Run With My Troubles,” intended to encourage listeners to care for their mental health through stressful times like the current pandemic and the aftermath of the tropical storm.

Didner will also take requests through the Live Streamer Cafe interface. His songbook includes selections by Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, Billy Joel, Otis Redding, Journey and many other of his favorite classic rock artists, the press release said.

Donations can be made through the website. All proceeds will go to the Hillside Parent Teacher Association, of which Didner is a member.
