Operation Backpack seeks help in assisting homeless kids

Montclair Operation Backpack is assisting in the effort to provide brand new backpacks and grade-specific school supplies to children living in homeless shelters in the New York City area.
The goal is to raise $15,000 from Montclair-area donors. Monetary contributions will be used to purchase school supply kits for the 15,000 students in need.
New, empty backpacks will also be collected at drop-off sites. The deadline for dropping off a backpack is July 29.
The local drop-off sites are:

• The General Store, 198 Bellevue Ave.
• Weichert Realtors Upper Montclair, 272 Bellevue Ave.
• Yarnia, 127 Watchung Ave.
• YMCA of Montclair, 25 Park St. and 159 Glenridge Ave.
