A FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance Team will be at Montclair Fire Headquarters, 1 Pine St., on Thursday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 2, from 9 a.m until 5 p.m. A tent will be set up in front of MFD Headquarters.

Team members will provide in-person case specific information and referrals for people still recovering from the damages caused by Ida, when the storm swept through the Northeast. No appointments are necessary.

FEMA will also have a team of representatives at the former Kmart in West Orange, on Prospect Avenue, where an Essex County vaccination center is located, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday. Representatives there will help residents with small business loans, insurance, mitigation and funding for Ida-related issues. No appointment is necessary at that location either.

Because Essex County has been included in a major disaster declaration for Ida, residents can register for relief at disasterassistance.gov. Applicants can register for assistance for home repairs and temporary housing and apply for low-cost loans. Homeowners will need their insurance companies’ denials of coverage to complete applications.
