More than 275 people attended Out Montclair’s Spring Fling March 31, raising $25,000 for Montclair Pride 2022, organizers said.

The money will go toward logistical and security costs of putting on Montclair first-ever pride festival June 11, according to Peter Yacobellis, Out Montclair president. Yacobellis is also a member of the Montclair Township Council.

Contributions included more than $1,100 in on-the-spot donations toward a $2,500 match offered by Eileen Birmingham and Greg Wawro, organizers said. Out Montclair is continuing to solicit donations through outmontclair.org/donate, and if it exceeds the $2,500, another donor has agreed to put up another $2,500 match for further matches.

The event at 18 Label Studios featured music by DJ Steve Sidewalk, food, dessert and cocktails. Among those in attendance: Christinan Fuscarino, executive director of Garden State Equality; Bobbi Brown, founder Bobbi Brown Cosmetics; Jill Hirsh, district director of Rep. Mikie Sherrill’s office; Council members Bob Russo and Lori Price Abrams; long time trans activist Leslie Farber and several other community leaders.

Betty Who will be the featured musical artist at the inaugural Montclair Pride Concert June 11, with Fab the Duo as supporting artists, Out Montclair recently announced. Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster and at The Wellmont Theater website and box office.
