Outpost in the Burbs: Bill Frisell and Tony Scherr in concert

Outpost in the Burbs presents the Bill Frisell and Tony Scherr Duo in concert on Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. The concert will take place at the First Congregational Church, 40 S. Fullerton Avenue.

A limited number of VIP tickets will be sold to include a 5 p.m. screening of the film, “The Great Flood,” in partnership with the Montclair Film Festival. 

The film is a collaboration between Frisell and filmmaker and multimedia artist Bill Morrison, inspired by the Mississippi River Flood of 1927. Frisell and Morrison will do a short Q&A after the screening. VIP tickets also include concert seating in the first several rows. The film screening will take place at the Clairidge Cinema.

Frisell’s career as a guitarist and composer has spanned more than 40 years and many celebrated recordings. His catalog has been cited by music magazine Downbeat as “the best recorded output of the decade,” according to an Outpost in the Burbs press release.  It also described Scherr as one of the most in-demand sidemen in New York City. He has worked with Sexmob, John Lurie’s Lounge Lizards, Willie Nelson and many others.

Tickets can be purchased via TicketLeap. General admission tickets are $50, and VIP tickets are $100.

To gain entry, every patron must show a completed vaccination record, dated at least 14 days before the show. A photocopy, a photo on your phone, proof via New Jersey's Docket app or New York's Excelsior Pass will be acceptable. A negative coronavirus test will not be accepted for entry.

Masks will be required to be worn at all times during the show, and unvaccinated children of any age will not be permitted to attend.
