Outpost in the Burbs will resume in-person concerts this fall for the first time since the novel coronavirus hit New Jersey.

The Montclair concert series' first show for its 2021-2022 season will feature The Bongos at the Van Vleck House and Gardens — an outdoor show. Some other shows for the season will be held indoors, at the First Congressional Church of Montclair.

“We are looking forward to reopening and having in-person concerts again, as we have missed the live interaction between the artists and the audience,” Outpost trustee Al Mercuro said an announcement from the group. "We have been reviewing various state and industry safety guidelines including the ones from the Event Safety Alliance. Our ultimate goal is to provide a safe environment for our audience and artists when we reopen."

New Jersey shut down all entertainment venues in March of 2020, along with other non-essential businesses, and barred most sorts of gatherings. It's gradually loosened up its rules over the year.

Effective March 19, most indoor venues can accommodate up to 50% of their normal capacity, not including employees, up from 35% previously. Attendees and staff must wear masks, practice social distancing and abide by state rules for cleaning.

Outposts' lineup for the season so far is:

• Sept. 19: The Bongos at the Van Vleck House and Gardens (In case of rain, the show will be held indoors at the First Congregational church).
• Oct. 8: Robyn Hitchcock
• March 18, 2022: Suzzy Roche and Lucy Wainwright Roche
• April 28, 2022: Shawn Colvin - Steady On 30th Anniversary Tour
