In brief: Peach day this Saturday at the farmers’ market
August has been officially declared “Jersey Fresh Peach Month”, and to celebrate, the Montclair Farmers’ Market is hosting a “Peach Party” this week, on Saturday, Aug. 10, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market is located at the Walnut Street Train Station parking lot.
Local growers will offer yellow vs. white peach and cling vs. freestone taste tests, peach quizzes for kids, peach pies and other baked goods, and mouth-watering recipes.
The freshest peaches will be available from: Tree-Licious Orchards, Port Murray; Vacchiano Farm, Washington Township; CircleBrook Farm, Andover; Spring House Farms; and, Matarazzo Farms, North Caldwell.
The day will also feature free peachy shopping bags, plus brochures with nutrition and storage information.
Plus: a Waste Prevention and Reuse “Action” for a free shopping bag. Bring an old T-shirt, watch it made into your own earth-friendly reusable bag, for free, by The Bagtivist, the “Re-Use Change Agent.”
