Wednesday, March 6, was Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. The day begins the six weeks of penitence before Easter. Christians of many denominations have ceremonial ashes placed on their heads or on a cross on their foreheads a symbol of repentance and commemoration of "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return."
