Despite many metropolitan area cancellations of Purim Carnivals, and two cancelled locally, in Caldwell and in the Oranges, it is a happy holiday, celebrated this year on Monday night, March 9th, through Tuesday, March 10, a story of intrigue, with a king, queen, and Haman, the evil prime minister, recounting the Jewish people's survival in ancient Persia from Haman’s plot “to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews, young and old, infants and women, in a single day,” as recorded in the Megillah (book of Esther).
