Montclair police blotter: June 3, 2020
Thursday, May 28—A 28-year-old Newark resident was charged with shoplifting after she was found to have left the Bloomfield Avenue CVS with more than $120 in unpaid merchandise.
Tuesday, May 26—A complainant reported observing a male walking up to a Claremont Avenue residence and pulling on the handle to the front door at approximately 2:10 a.m. Upon discovering that the door was locked, the male left the area and was last seen walking in the area of Roswell Terrace and Walnut Crescent.
Wednesday, May 27—A Forest Street resident reported that a male was observed in his yard at approximately 2:15 p.m., possibly attempting to steal a bicycle. The caller believes that the suspect chose not to steal the bicycle once he discovered that it had a flat tire.
Saturday, May 30 —At approximately 2:30 p.m., two 10-year-olds and a 7-year-old were walking south on South Mountain Avenue near Union Street when they were approached by a female in a gray/silver sedan, asking them where they were going and further stating that she was a mother who wanted to keep them safe. She asked the youths if they wanted to get in the car, but they declined. The youths went to one of their residences, with the female following, telling them to have their mother come outside and wave at her so that the driver knew that they were safe. One of the youths told his mother, who went outside to discover that the car was gone. The female is described as being of possibly Hispanic or Middle Eastern descent, with an accent, possibly in her late 40s, with black hair.
Saturday, May 30—A Park Street resident reported that two unlocked vehicles at her residence were entered, with the contents of each vehicle’s glove box left on the passenger seats. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicles.
Tuesday, May 26—A Buckingham Road resident reported that his daughter’s bicycle was stolen.
Tuesday, May 26 — A Pine Street resident reported that an unlocked bicycle was stolen from his rear yard.
Saturday, May 30— A vehicle owner reported that her 2015 Mercedes Benz ML 256 wagon was stolen on Valley Road.
Saturday, May 30 — A vehicle owner reported that his 2011 Mercedes Benz C30 was stolen on Park Street.
Sunday, May 31—An employee at CVS on Valley Road reported that a person left the store at approximately noon without paying for approximately $460 in merchandise.
Monday, June 1— A vehicle owner reported that his 2018 Mazda CRX was stolen on Harrison Avenue. The keys may have been left in the vehicle prior to the theft.
Monday, June 1—A vehicle owner reported that his 2007 Honda CR-V was stolen on Cross Street. The keys were left in the unlocked vehicle prior to the theft.
Tuesday, May 26—A motorcycle owner reports that his motorcycle was keyed on Montague Place.
Thursday, May 28—A complainant reported that three benches near Hillside School’s playground on Orange Road were damaged.
