
Police investigating robbery at Grove Street convenience store
Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at a Montclair convenience store on Wednesday.
According to a statement from the Montclair Police Department, a man entered the Grove Convenience Store, 133 Grove St., just after noon, leaned over the counter and took cash out of the cash register. Police said that the man then brandished what appeared to be a knife, and threatened to stab a store employee if he attempted to intervene.
The suspect fled the store and was seen heading eastbound on Oxford Street in an older-model blue vehicle.
The man was described as a light-complexioned black male with thin build, cross-eyed and having a short haircut and a goatee. At the time of the incident, he was reported to be wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a zipper, a red shirt and light blue jeans. He was estimated to be 6'5" tall and about 40 to 45 years old.
No one was injured in the incident. It is not known how much money was stolen.
