The Montclair Police Department has released a composite sketch of a man believed to have been involved in an attempted luring incident earlier this week.

On Jan. 2, an 11-year-old girl reported that a man in a vehicle had stopped near her on Alexander Avenue and Squire Hill Road around 7 a.m. The girl reported that the man had asked her if she wanted a ride because of the cold weather. The girl said no, and the man drove away toward Grove Street, according to Police Lt. David O'Dowd.

School officials sent an email to parents describing the incident on Jan. 3. In the email, Superintendent Kendra Johnson said the police had increased patrols near Buzz Aldrin Middle School and the bus stops in response.

The vehicle was described as a light brown, possibly newer-model, SUV. The man was described as a Hispanic male, between 30 and 40 years of age, with a beard.

The incident is under investigation at this time, according to police.
