Community in brief: Festival of St. Sebastian coming
The 92nd carnival celebrating the feast of St. Sebastian will take place in Montclair next week, Wednesday, Aug. 22, through Sunday, Aug. 26, at Kaveny Field and Christopher Street. Wednesday through Friday, the festival will be 5 to 10 p.m.; on the weekend it will start at 3 p.m.
As always, the event includes food, rides and games.
There will be a 50/50 raffle, a raffle for tickets to the New York Giants-Philadelphia Eagles football game, and a wine and beer garden. The procession of St. Sebastian will take place on Sunday at 3:30 p.m., leaving from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 94 Pine St. The saint will arrive at the feast at 6:15 p.m.
Bands playing will be: Charlie P. Productions on Wednesday; The Rockin Soul Band on Thursday; Lonny Youngblood on Friday; Ray Cetrell on Saturday; and Eric DeLauro on Sunday.
The Society of St. Sebastian writes that it is “thankful Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church remains open and will always support the Parish.”
