A 22-year-old Montclair man has been arrested for assault after he allegedly slashed a young woman's thigh with a razor blade on Sunday.

Jacob Raia of Montclair was arrested in connection with the altercation soon after the alleged assault that occurred on Sunday, Jan. 20, at around 9:30 p.m., police said.

Officers responded to a report of an altercation on South Willow Street on Jan. 20. During the encounter the victim, an 18-year-old Montclair female, "sustained a scratch ending in a small puncture to her skin in the thigh area," according to police.

Raia was found in a parking lot across the street and carrying a razor blade. He was arrested and charged with simple assault and weapons offenses, police said.
