Softball field to be dedicated to Terry Demming
On Friday, Oct. 28, Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo and Commissioner Brendan Gill will dedicate the softball field in Glenfield Park to Terry Demming, the late son of Montclair Board of Education member Kathryn Weller-Demming.
Terry died in a drowning in 2018, when he was 7 years old. Despite his youth, he had been active in the community. He helped at events hosted by the Montclair Democratic Committee and Toni’s Kitchen. Terry's family and friends said described him as the “funniest boy in class and a great friend” and “energetic, smart, beautiful, and a charismatic little boy.” According to those close to him, Demming’s made friends easily. With the name of the field being changed to the Terry Demming Field, those who knew him will forever be able to memorialize his charming personality.
Those interested in attending can meet at the softball field located behind the Wally Choice Community Center in Glenfield Park at 10 a.m. on Friday. The event will be held by the Montclair Democratic County Committee and will be held rain or shine.
