Someone stole a vehicle that had $5,000 cash in it while it was parked on Bloomfield Avenue last week, police said.

The 2017 Mercedes Benz CLA 250 was stolen while parked on Bloomfield Avenue between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. on July 20, police said. The owner believes she left her keys in the vehicle.

The vehicle reportedly contained multiple suitcases of high-end clothing and shoes, and the $5,000 in cash.

Sunday, July 25 — A 2007 BMW X3 was stolen during the overnight hours from a driveway on Christopher Street. Surveillance video shows three individuals walking north on Christopher Street stop and enter the vehicle at 2:57 a.m. The vehicle then flees south on Christopher Street. The vehicle was recovered, parked and unoccupied, on July 26 on S. 12th Street in Newark.

Thursday, July 22 — Officers on patrol located an unoccupied 2011 BMW X5 parked in a metered spot on Bloomfield Avenue. The vehicle was reported stolen from Belleville The vehicle was impounded.

Other thefts

Tuesday, July 20 — Someone reported he’d parked his vehicle on High Street and had the driver’s-side window down. He saw a dark Jeep Grand Cherokee pull up alongside his vehicle. The driver of the Cherokee exited the Jeep and entered the complainant’s vehicle. The Jeep driver removed the complainant’s wallet and fled south on High Street. The Jeep driver was described as thin, wearing a white T-shirt and holding a draw-string bag. 

Saturday, July 24 — A person reported her vehicle was entered during the overnight hours while it was parked in her driveway on Warren Place. Her purse containing Apple Airpods, an Apple iPhone, and various credit and debit cards was stolen. 

Saturday, July 24 — A person reported that an electric blue Liv racing bike valued at approximately $500 was stolen from in front of her home on Clinton Avenue. The thief left a red and blue Free Spirit Outrage bicycle in its place.
