Culture in brief: Stargazing at Buzz Aldrin

Buzz Aldrin Middle School invites Earthlings of all ages to attend a free, family-friendly stargazing event on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 7-9 p.m., at the athletic field across from Buzz Aldrin, 173 Bellevue Ave.

They write: “Come enjoy a close-up view of stars, galaxies, planets with rings and moons, and our own Moon and its craters. We will have 10 high-powered telescopes, courtesy of the NJ Astronomical Group (NJAG), and expert star guides including the Montclair High School Astronomy Club. Join us! The NJ Astronomical group hosts weekly stargazing evenings on the campus of MSU every (clear) Thursday evening through Dec. 3, and again in the spring. More information is at njastro.org.

The Astronomy Club at MMHS also hosts ongoing stargazing evenings in Montclair, and welcomes participants of all ages.
