As the Planning Board mulls recommendations to the Township Council, a group of residents weigh in with their own demands.
The Planning Board’s role in this part of the redevelopment process is to determine whether the draft plan for the 8.2-acre Lackawanna Plaza site is consistent with the township’s master plan.
The Montclair Planning Board takes up its review of the draft redevelopment plan for the 8-acre site.

The property, owned by David Placek’s BDP Holdings, is the largest site for redevelopment in the community.
“This is not the beginning,” Planner Janice Talley said. “Hopefully, this is the final stage. And I say stage because it is a public process. This is the township’s plan.”
Montclair residents will have an opportunity to ask questions about the Lackawanna Plaza redevelopment plan.
The council will take up the matter again on Dec. 6.
It’s first being refurbished in Morristown, and will come to Montclair in 2024.
